Govt to adjust import duty

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -  Government must impose import duty and implement Indonesian National Standard as a protective measure to domestic industry.  While for long term, government will develop basic and petrochemical sectors to balance incoming investment with high importation.

"Government asks Honam Petrochemical, a South Korean company, to enter Indonesia," Director General of Manufacture Industry at the Ministry of Industry, Panggah Susanto, said on Monday.

Meanwhile, Minister of Industry MS Hidayat said that import duty in indonesia was quite lower compared to other countries. Thus, Indonesia will implement some protective measures to protect and monitor goods distribution.
