REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAYAPURA - Thirty six Indonesian citizens receive postgraduate scholarship by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in United States (US). Chargé d'affairs at US Embassy in Jakarta, Kristen Bauer said all scholarship recipients were selected through a selection from more than 1,360 applicants from all over Indonesia.

"It based on high academic performance, professional experience and dedication to improving lives of people in Indonesia," Bauer said on Thursday.

All scholarship recipients will study economics, law, public policy, political science, public administration, environment, health and education. Bauer said after they learned and got master's degree and doctorate, all scholarship recipients would return to Indonesia. They could contribute to advancement and welfare of Indonesian people.

Scholarships and other educational programs are part of US-Indonesia comprehensive partnership, a commitment made by US President Barack Obama and Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in 2010. They wanted to promote cooperation and deepen relations between two countries.
