Cruise ship visits increase 26 percent

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- National sea port operator, PT Indonesia Port Corporation III recorded that cruise ship visit under their management increased 26 percent in 2013 compared to previous year. IPC III manages some ports in seven provinces in Indonesia, namely East Java, Central Java, Bali, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara.

Head of Public Relation of IPC III, Edi Priyanto said that there were 57 cruise ships that came to ports managed by IPC III. The figure increased 26 percent to 76 ships in 2011 and 92 ships in 2012.

"At least, there are 166 cruise ships visited our ports in 2013," Priyanto said on Tuesday.

Port of Benoa is the most visited by cruise ships, followed by Tanjung Emas port in Semarang and Lombok port in West Nusa Tenggara.

Many ships visited Bali as there was Kuta beach and other tourist destinations that famous in the world. They came to Semarang to see Borobudur temple, while Lombok to see Gili Trawangan beach.
