Indonesian Pavilion in World Expo Milan funded by private sponsors

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Director General of National Export Development of Ministry of Trade Nus Nuzulia Ishak denied that the funds used to build the Indonesian Pavilion at the World Expo Milan from the state budget (APBN). According to him, all the funds used come from private sponsors.

"There were no state funds, and all funds from private sponsors managed by Cooperative of Cultural Archipelago Conservationist (KPBN)," said Nus to Republika on Sunday, May 17.

Nus said, this is the first world expo was managed by the private sector and take the same scheme as the United States. In this case, Ministry of Trade through the Directorate General of National Export Development was acting as the commissioner general whom served as director.

With the government as commissioner general, then KPBN entitled to use the Indonesia Pavilion and the tax-free 21 percent. Nus said this model has been done by the United States. According to Nus, the government did not release funds for the World Expo this time because it is not budgeted.
