REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, ABU DHABI -- Foreign minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan met here on Saturday with UN Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, state news agency WAM reported.

The minister and the UN envoy exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments, and discussed the humanitarian assistance and relief efforts in the crisis-stricken Yemen.

Abdullah pledged that the UAE would spare no effort in extending all possible aid to ease the repercussions of the current events in Yemen on the Yemeni people.

For his part, the special envoy said the UAE maintained a good reputation in the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Yemen.

The UAE joined the Saudi-led military coalition of nine Arab states against Shiite Houthi rebels in Yemen, which was launched since end of March in a bid to restore the rule of the exiled President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.
