Cyber security regulation will be launched in October

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Cabinet Secretary, Andi Widjajanto, said that President Joko Widodo plans to ratify the regulation of cyber security in October 2015.

"Our country has a regulation concerning cyber security. This October, the president will launch it," said Andi, in the International Conference on Cyber Security at the National Defense Agency (Lemhanas) on Tuesday, as published on the website of the Cabinet Secretariat.

He said the government is aware that cyber security is a crucial field in this creative, digital, and innovative era. Through this era, the world economic growth will be developed.

The government must be prepared to build a cyber security. "In the future, Indonesia will face so many challenges. So that the security should be strengthened," he said.

He added that the establishment of the National Cyber Agency (BCN) is still continued. The BCN will implement the prevention policy and control of emergency due to the threat and incidents of cyber attacks.

Thus, there will not be the President who directly controls the cyber issues, but the BCN. "BCN will cooperate with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights," he explained.
