President Jokowi to visit Japan

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a meeting with several parties at the Presidential Palace here on Tuesday to discuss the preparations for his visit to Japan in late May 2016.

"The head of state will hold the meeting to discuss the preparations for his visit to Japan," Minister/Chief of the National Development Planning Board Sofyan Djalil remarked at the palace complex prior to the meeting.

It was reported earlier that President Jokowi would attend the G7 Summit in Japan on May 26-27.

The Japanese government has sent an invitation to the Indonesian president to attend the G7 Summit as a guest of honor.

Besides Indonesia, two other ASEAN countries have also been invited to attend the G7 Summit, which will be held to discuss the current situation in the Asia-Pacific region and anticipatory steps to counter the threat of international terrorism, among other issues.
