REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A professional institute engaged in consultancy services and international education, Euro Management Indonesia, provides scholarship to one thousand Indonesian journalists to study foreign languages, especially English, Germany, French, Dutch, and Japanese, for two semesters.

"We are providing this scholarship for journalists because it will help publish every program of Euro Management in a very short time," the President Director of Euro Management Indonesia, Bimo Sasongko, said here on Thursday.

Earlier, the institution gave scholarships for 1,300 senior high school students and 1,200 university students in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi.

"The journalist scholarship program will be for 2016 - 2017. This program is being conducted by the Euro Management Indonesia for the first time and is the only such program in the country," Bimo remarked.

According to him, the program aims to help broaden journalists' mind and make them aware about the importance of foreign languages and motivate them to study abroad.

"We hope more Indonesian journalists will study abroad, especially in developed countries such as Japan, Germany, France, Britain and the Netherlands, and will then return to the country to apply their knowledge and skills," Bimo said.

In addition, the scholarship program also aims to build the journalists' capacity in dealing with the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).

"The journalists will not only study foreign language, but will also participate in workshops on culture and other programs to expand their understanding," Bimo said.
