REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta Metro Police has asked the Chief of Supreme Court to move the location of religious blasphemy case trial with Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) as the defendant. As planned, the next session of the trial would be conducted in Tuesday (Dec 27). "I've asked the Chief of Supreme Court to move the trial from Gajah Mada Street to South Jakarta," said Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General M Iriawan on Thursday (Dec 22).

According to Iriawan, Hatta Ali as the Chief of Supreme Court has agreed with that suggestion. Within the next two days from Dec 22, Hatta will sign the decree. "God willing, the room will be available for next week's trial," Iriawan said after culling evidence in drug cases, near the Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang,

The former west java police chief offered two locations to the Supreme Court. Both of the options were located in South Jakarta. "First, in a building in front of SMA 28 that was owned by the Ministry of Agriculture and the other was in the auditorium of the Ministry of Agriculture," he said.

Previously, the location of the trial at the South Jakarta has been used as to hold the hearings of Abu Bakar Ba'asyir and also former president Suharto’s cases. "But we will only take the smaller room, hopefully it was available," said Iriawan.

According to Iriawan, the location was shifted by considering the security and traffic flow arrangements issues.
