REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta Police are still studying the report of Secretary General of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Novel Chaidir Hasan Bamukmin against Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok). Head of Public Relations of Jakarta Metro Police Commissioner Pol Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono said the police had received the report related to defamation and slander.

Novel’s report pointed out that Ahok has deliberately said that Novel changed the spelling of Pizza Hut became Fitsa Hats. According to Ahok, Novel was embarrassed recognizing that he has worked in the company owned by the United States. "We are checking the report. We start everything with investigation. And then we conduct a hearing on his case to determine whether the report was investigated," said Argo to reporters at Polda Metro Jaya Office, Friday.

He added that the investigators will also invite a number of witnesses of the complainant, including Novel. After that, the police will invite Ahok as the one who was accused to commit slander. "Yes (Ahok) will also be invited, it will conducted later based on technical of investigation," said Argo.

Previously, Novel made a report on Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) to Jakarta Metro Police Office, on Thursday (January 5). Ahok reportedly slandered him by saying that he was embarrassed to work at Pizza Hut, because it is a US company led by non-Muslims. Finally, said Ahok,  he wrote ‘Pizza Hut’ to became 'Fitsa Hats' in the evidence investigation document.

Novel's report stated in the document No. LP/55/I/2017/PMJ/Dit.Reskrimsus, dated on January 5, 2017. Ahok accused to have committed slander through electronic media. He was reported to violate Article 310 or Article 311 of the Criminal Code Juncto Article 27, paragraph 3 in conjunction with Article 45, paragraph 3 of Law No. 19 Year 2016 on the amendment of Law No. 11 in 2008 on Information and Electronic Transaction (ITE).
