Although Al-Waqiah has the meaning of doomsday. Why can Al-Waqiah, which has the meaning of the Day of Resurrection, become so famous as the practice of opening the door of sustenance?

UIN Professor Sunan Kalijaga in Tafsir Science Prof. Sahiron Syamsuddin said Al-Waqiah is indeed enjoyed by many people. One of his hopes was to be given a better sustenance from God. This is based on several hadith histories.

It is narrated in the biography of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, a great friend of the Prophet Muhammad, that when Abdullah was ill (due to which he died), Uthman ibn Affan visited him. Then there was a dialogue between the two friends.

Ustman: “What are you complaining about?”

Abdullah: “My sins.”

Ustman: “What do you expect?”

Abdullah: “Mercy my Lord.”

Ustman: “Should I command (someone) to invite a doctor for you?”

Abdullah: “The doctor has treated me.”

Ustman: “Should I command (someone) to give you something?”

Abdullah: “I don't need it.”

Ustman: “Maybe something will be useful to your daughters after you.”

Are you worried about poverty?

Abdullah: "Are you worried about poverty for my children? Indeed, I ordered them to read Surah al-Waqiah every night. Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah say: "Whoever reads Surah al-Waqiah every night, he will not fall into poverty."

Prof. Sahiron said that based on the words of the Prophet in the conversation between the two friends, Al-Waqiah's letter also has the priority of providing good fortune. Even though Al-Waqiah talks a lot about the Day of Judgment, some of his verses talk about the pleasures of Allah SWT.

"Pay attention to verses 63-76, these verses talk about that Allah is the source of pleasure and happiness," said Prof Sahiron.

Sayyid Muhammad bin al-Alawy al-Maliki al-Hasani in his work Abwab al-Farah stated that the priority of Al-Waqiah is to attract sustenance. And in the history of Ibn Mas'ud which was quoted by Abu 'Ubaidah in Fadhail, Ibn ad-Dharis, al-Harits bin Abi Usamah, Abu Ya'la, Ibn Mardawaih, and al-Baihaqi in Sya'b al-Iman mentioned the hadith Rasulullah SAW said,

"Whoever reads surah al-Waqiah every night, he will not be infected by poverty forever."
