Shin Tae-yong Asserts Indonesian National Team to Face China with Enthusiasm and Courage

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, QINGDAO -- Indonesia national team coach Shin Tae-yong (STY) says Garuda's squad welcomes the match against China in the third round of 2026 World Cup qualifiers with the passion and courage to achieve maximum results. The match will be held on Tuesday (15/10/2024) in the afternoon 19:00 WIB.
“We flew from Bahrain to Qingdao with passion and courage and we hope to give our best and achieve positive results,” Shin Tae-yong told a press conference ahead of the match in a voice recording received in Jakarta on Monday (14/10/2024).
Coach Shin said that the Chinese team has not bagged a victory in their last three games. However, the South Korean coach did not want to underestimate the strength of the “Bamboo Curtain Country” team.
“For Indonesia, no opponent can be underestimated,” he said.
Shin said that both teams (Indonesia and China) both have a balanced chance to earn full points in the match. The outcome of the match, he said, would be determined by who was better able to capitalise on opportunities and score more goals.
The Indonesian national team will play the fourth match of the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualification when it plays against China at Qingdao Youth Football Stadium, China, on Tuesday (October 15, 2024) at 19:00pm. Garuda's squad currently ranks fifth in the provisional Group C standings by bagging three points, whereas China have yet to bag a point.
The top of the standings was led by the Japanese team with nine points, followed by the Australian team, the Saudi Arabian team, and the Bahrain national team, who each posted four points.
