Free Nutritious Meals Starting January 2025: Please Understand That It's Not Perfect
The free meal program is something new in Indonesia.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAGELANG -- Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi stated that a free nutritious meal program will begin in January 2025. A number of preparations are estimated to have been made by the government to implement one of Prabowo Subianto's programs.
“God willing from January (2025), it will be possible to implement it,” he said when asked about the free nutritious meal program in Akmil Magelang, Central Java, Sunday (27/10/2024).
Nevertheless, Prasetyo said, it is likely that the implementation of the program is still not complete at the beginning of next January. Because, the free meal program is something new in Indonesia.
Therefore, he called on the support of the public to participate in the success of the free meal program, which was the promise of Prabowo-Gibran Rakabuming Raka's campaign. He also asked the public to give a reprieve if the program is not complete in January.
“Please also be informed if at the beginning the system is still not perfect,” Prasetyo said.
He mentioned that the free meal program is not likely to be implemented throughout Indonesia by January 2025. Given, the government is still looking for methods to provide nutritious eating in 3T areas.
“In some other areas we have to look for the method. For example, in the outermost coastal areas, the outermost islands, in the Papuan area. Of course we can't be the same,” he said.
Earlier, Prabowo reportedly paid a visit to the Nutritional Eating Service Unit located in Magelang City, Central Java, on Saturday (26/10/2024). The visit was conducted in the midst of the Merah Putih Cabinet retreat in Magelang.
According to Republika.co.id monitoring, Prabowo was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Major Teddy Indra Wijaya and Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Rachmat Pambudi. They made the visit by golf car or buggy car, because the location of the Nutritional Food Service Unit is located near the Akmil Magelang complex.
Dadan Hindiyana confirmed Prabowo's direct visit in the midst of the Red and White Cabinet retreat. According to him, the place he visited was the Nutritious Eating Service Unit.
“(It was) where the Nutritious Eating Services Unit Manager was coordinating with the beneficiaries and all elements involved in the nutritious eating program,” he said when confirmed to reporters on Saturday afternoon.
