REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Indonesian airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) ensures that two airports are ready to implement GeNose, technology for the detection of Covid-19 from someone's breath, on April 1, 2021. The two airports are Husein Sastranegara in Bandung and Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin in Palembang.
“Other airports under our management will follow afterwards,” President Director of AP II, Muhammad Awaluddin, said on press release, Tuesday (30/3).
He further said that, seeing the availability and machine capacity of GeNose, Husein Sastranegara Airport can serve 400 people a day. Meanwhile, Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin can carry out 700 people per day.
Based on Circular Letter of Covid-19 National Task Force Number 12 of 2021 on Domestic Travelling During Covid-19 Pandemic, travelers who used air transportation shall present a negative PCR test result which the sample has been taken in the departure country within three days prior to the departure time or a negative rapid test antigen which the sample has been taken in the departure country within two days prior to the departure time or a negative GeNose test at the airport prior departure and fill the electronic Health Alert Card (eHAC).
Awaluddin ensures that the implementation of GeNose in AP II airports would comply to regulation of Ministry of Transportation. “The operational test of GeNose will be carried by competent partners, such as Farmalab,” Awaluddin said.
Meanwhile, Spokesperson for Ministry of Transportation, Adita Irawati, said the ministry had drafted Circular Letter to follow up the Circular Letter of Covid-19 National Task Force Number 12 of 2021. “The Circular letter will regulate the detail of health protocol implementation for domestic travelers during Covid-19 pandemic,” Adita said.

Adita confirms that the ministry will soon circulate the regulation to people. She further explained that the regulation would be effective on general condition.
“This circular letter has some exception, such as during Idul Fitr, which will be regulated specifically,” she said.
Ministry of Transportarion asks all transportation operator and stakeholders to comply with the rules issued by COVID-19 Task Force as well as Ministry of Transportarion. Based on Circular Letter of Covid-19 National Task Force Number 12 of 2021, GeNose test will be carried out to all mode of transport. GeNose can be implemented as an alternative screening for domestic travelers during the pandemic.
