REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKANBARU -- The National Board of Zakat (Baznas) of Riau Province along with Baznas district/city and several other institutions to collect IDR 11.165 billion donations for Palestine.

“The donation was raised out of concern for the current condition of Palestinians who are facing Israeli military aggression that has caused many casualties and damage,” Baznas Riau Chairman H Masriadi Hasan said in a statement in Pekanbaru on Monday (21/11/2023).

According to Masriadi, the collection of donations is part of the concern of Baznas throughout Indonesia to mobilize support for Palestinians in the face of a critical situation, where this initiation received an overwhelming response, especially in Riau Province.

He mentioned various branches of Baznas in Riau along with other amil organizations actively involved in fundraising efforts through various channels. Methods used such as volunteer mobilization, social media campaigns, direct efforts, and others, which peaked in massive donation campaigns.

“The culmination of this campaign took place on November 10, 2023 at the Grand Mosque of Annur, Riau Province with the participation of all walks of life in Riau, including government bodies, institutions, zakat forums, mosques, schools, boarding houses, offices, and individuals,” he said.

This fundraising campaign includes various forms of donation, including electronic transfers, cash donations, gold, goods, motor vehicles, and others.
