REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Towards the end of 2023, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk continues to make positive achievements in the national banking industry sector. Most recently, Bank BRI received two awards from the 2023 CNBC Indonesia Awards.
The two awards were Maestro CEO of the Year for BRI President Director Sunarso, as well as the Most Profitable Bank with Best GCG (Good Corporate Governance) category. For the Maestro CEO of the Year category, the award was given because Sunarso was considered successful in leading BRI and continuing to carried out sustainable transformation which was the foundation for the company's success in maintaining positive performance.
During Sunarso's leadership, BRI (BBRI) shares were appreciated by investors with their success in reaching the All Time High on July 27 2023 at the level of IDR 5,750 per share. This price was the price after BRI's stock split on January 11, 2011 with a ratio of 1:2 and on November 11, 2017 with a ratio of 1:5.
In Sunarso's leadership, BRI also succeeded in carrying out corporate actions on an international scale.
On September 13, 2021, BRI received a new mandate as the holding company for Ultra Micro BUMN (UMi) through synergy with PT Pegadaian and PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM). That was marked by the process of adding capital through a rights issue. Through this corporate action, BRI succeeded in achieving an emissions value of IDR 95.9 trillion. This achievement made BRI's rights issue becoming the largest one in Southeast Asia, then the 3rd largest in Asia and the 7th in the world.
In addition, Sunarso succeeded in initiating transformation at BRI since 2016 with a focus on digital and culture areas.
Meanwhile, for the Most Profitable Bank with Best GCG category, BRI applies GCG principles in running its business, namely transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence and fairness.
Regarding this award, Sunarso dedicated the awards to all BRILiaN people (BRI workers). "I dedicate this award to BRILiaN people who have made their best contribution to BRI and to Indonesia," he said, Thursday (Dec. 14, 2023).
Sunarso emphasized that BRI's achievements cannot be separated from the success of the BRI Group in recording brilliant performance on an ongoing basis. Based on the company's financial report for the third quarter of 2023, BRI posted a consolidated net profit of IDR 44.21 trillion. This profit increased by 12.47 percent yoy.
"BRI's impressive performance is certainly in line with the company's implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) which can also maintain healthy company fundamentals," he explained.
