REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jews often claim to be a special, superior, and smart people. In fact, this is not the case, the Quran refutes it based on the historical traces of the Jews and the Children of Israel.

Allah says in Quran Surah Al Baqarah verse 78:

وَمِنْهُمْ اُمِّيُّوْنَ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ الْكِتٰبَ اِلَّآ اَمَانِيَّ وَاِنْ هُمْ اِلَّا يَظُنُّوْنَ

Wa minhum umiyyūna lā ya'lamūnal-kitāba illā amāniyya wa in hum illā yaḥunnūn (a).

Which means, “Among them are the umiyy (illiterate), who do not understand the Book (Torah), except only wishful thinking and they only conjecture.”

The Book Tafsir Kementerian Agama, it is explained that after the behavior of the Jewish group of scholars and religious figures was described in the previous verses, the later verses describe other groups among the Israelites.

Namely that among them there are those who are illiterate, unable to read and write, or stupid and stubborn. They do not understand the meaning and message of the Torah with a loving understanding, except only wishful thinking in the form of lies presented by their religious leaders and said to be truth.

And they only suspect, for even if they read it, it is not done with deep understanding. So in this verse it is reported about the laymen of their followers who follow the will of the priests who distort the content of the Torah.

Neither the leader nor his followers, both are in error. Among the Jews were the Ummians, who were illiterate, unable to read and write. They can only memorize the Book of the Torah, but they cannot understand its meaning and content, and even the charity of their deeds cannot reflect what the content of the Torah means.

They are a people who base things only on suspicion, not on the dignity of a belief based on certain unquestionable facts.

The Jews did deny the truth a lot, even though the truth was clear and clear. They profusely deny the verses of Allah, and are most deceived by themselves and like to eat other people's possessions in illegitimate ways, such as usury, deceit and bribes. They consider that they are the foremost people among the nations of the world.
