REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A coalition of civil society called Jaga Election launched the website jagapemilu.com on Friday (5/1/2024). The initiator of Jaga Election, Luky Djani, said that they took the initiative to launch this website to accommodate people's complaints when they see or learn of fraud in the 2024 elections.
Be it cheating the contestants commit or the abuses the organisers commit. “It is expected that anyone, anytime, anywhere during the electoral process takes place, until the vote count in the Commission can be monitored. We created this website so that everyone can report both fraud and violations,” Luky said in Jakarta, Friday (6/12/2024).
Luky said that for citizens who want to get involved to volunteer for Keep Elections, it is enough to register and fill in the requested data. So that the manager of Keep Elections can know who anyone who is joining as a volunteer.
Luky said that the results of the complaint, which will be later entered by Jaga Election, will be submitted to Bawaslu. Page Guard Elections, connect him, does not move alone. They are already an organization authorized as one of the monitors of the 2024 elections under the supervision of Bawaslu.
Luky believes that in an age of technological progress such as today, election surveillance is not enough in conventional ways. Civil society, he said, needs to keep up with the times by creating a means of complaint digitally. So that the public can at any time anywhere report election fraud.
He also hopes that people from all corners of the country can be actively involved in keeping the democratic party running honestly and fairly. According to Luky, as a citizen, it is not enough just to get involved in voting at polling stations. But it must also be actively involved in monitoring and maintaining all stages of elections so that democratic parties can realize better leadership.
Founder of the Indonesian Law and Policy Studies Center (PSHK), Bivitri Susanti, said that it is necessary to jointly safeguard the 2024 elections because this election is special. The special one Bivitri was referring to was because he indirectly risked the office of the incumbent president, Joko Widodo.
Despite no longer participating in the 2024 presidential election, he said, Jokowi's interests were represented by his eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who advanced to become vice president alongside Prabowo Subianto. “In fact, there have been many incidents of injustice. As with ASN restrictions, share money in education, billboards in Batam to share milk,” Bivitri said.
