REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA- Executive Director of Indonesia Political Review (IPR), Ujang Komarudin, said the calming scene was shown between the two candidates, namely Prabowo Subianto and Anies Baswedan, as they attended the Paku Integritas event at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday (17/1/2024) yesterday. Prabowo and Anies shook hands and talked to each other.
According to Ujang, Prabowo and Anies have shown maturity in politics. “Prabowo and Anies showed their maturity despite the fierce competition, the competition is very high in the potential for conflict, but it does not prevent them from greeting each other in a friendly and friendly manner,” Ujang told Republika on Thursday (18/1/2024).
Ujang said the attitude shown by Prabowo and Anies implied the message that in a democratic party, differences of choice, views, ideas, and ideas are commonplace. And that difference, he said, doesn't have to ruin the tangle of friendships.
“Being different is an inevitability, it doesn't take away friendship. The capres show the maturity of the contestants capres. Because the contestants are actually a five-yearly ritual, not to separate each other. Greetings to the capres who are friendly to each other when they meet,” Ujang said.
The lecturer at Indonesia's Al Azhar University said in the past two weeks, the tension of the presidential election was quite high, especially the rivalry between Anies and Prabowo's stronghold. The climax was the moment of the last presidential debate in which Anies carried out more attacks on Prabowo. Later, after the debate, Prabowo on various occasions often insinuated Anies. Even Prabowo's innuendo came up with the words' Goblok' and 'Idiot'.
Earlier it was reported that after the opportunity to shake hands after the election debate event two weeks ago, candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto and candidate number 1 Anies Rasyid Baswedan finally shook hands again in the Paku Integritas event held by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at KPK Juang Gedung, South Jakarta, Wednesday (17/1/2024) at the evening of WIB.
The two capres shook hands after a photo moment together. Prabowo, who stood at the center of the stage, initially greeted KPK Chairman Nawawi Pomolango, Vice President No. 1 Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, and other KPK leaders. Then, Prabowo extended his right hand towards Anies. The former governor of Jakarta welcomed the help of the minister of defense (menhan), so the two shook hands.
In a live broadcast of the event on KPK Youtube, it appeared that Anies and Prabowo not only shook hands, but briefly interacted when they came off the stage. It was after the two together with their respective spouses and capres Ganjar Pranowo and his vice president took a picture together.
In addition to the greeting, Prabowo in his presentation also admitted to agreeing with Anies that the supreme leader must act transparently in order to be an example to all his subordinates. Such means are believed to prevent the practice of corruption. “I agree with Anies earlier, it must be from above,” Prabowo said.
