REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (Baznas) and PT Rekso Nasional Food franchisee of McDonald's (McD) in Indonesia announced cooperation to help people more easily donate. Through this collaboration, all McD restaurants in Indonesia will be fitted with posters with special QR codes to donate.
QR codes will be installed one of them in the period 1-20 February 2024 for donations for brothers in Palestine. McD Indonesia is the first fast food restaurant to partner with Baznas RI charity to help humanity.
The collaboration of Baznas RI and PT Rekso Nasional Food is one of the activities under the umbrella of the program 'Mekdi för Humanitasiaan', an initiative of McD Indonesia aimed at helping people and communities in Indonesia. It does not rule out the possibility of aid being funneled out of the country.
The cooperation between McD Indonesia and Baznas RI as charity partners was announced at the launch of the 'Mekdi for Humanity' program held at McD Thamrin Jaya, Jakarta, Wednesday (31/1/2024).
Also present were Baznas RI Head of Collection Rizaludin Kurniawan, Baznas RI Head of Planning, Research and Development Zainulbahar Noor, Baznas RI Head of HR, Finance and General Nur Chamdani, and HR & GS Director of PT Rekso Nasional Food, Yulianti Hadena.
Baznas RI Head of Collection Rizaludin Kurniawan appreciated PT Rekso Nasional Food's commitment to helping fellow citizens including affected citizens in Palestine. “We welcome this collaboration, and give our appreciation to PT Rekso Nasional Food for continuously helping our brothers in need,” Rizaludin said at McD Thamrin Jaya in Jakarta on Wednesday.
At the same place, HR & GS Director of PT Rekso Nasional Food Yulianti Hadena thanked Baznas RI for facilitating humanitarian assistance to Palestine. Yulianti explained that 'Mekdi for Humanity' is in line with the philosophy of McD Indonesia, namely 'Good Intentions, Good Results' taught by the founder of Rekso Group. The program is based on the principles of humanity, neutrality, and self-reliance to provide assistance to one another.
“Concern and commitment to our fellows underpins us to launch the 'Mekdi for Humanity' program and going forward, this program will be an umbrella for all the activities we undertake,” Yulianti said.
Through this collaboration, Yulianti said, QR code posters will be installed in all McD restaurants in Indonesia. The move is to make it easier for the community to give charity to brothers in need, including Gazans, Palestinians.
“The way is very easy, just scan the QR code on the poster of the Mekdi for Humanity program available at 317 resto McD's across Indonesia, to participate in the donation,” Yulianti said.
Yulianti said that later all funds raised from the community and customers during a predetermined period will be used by Baznas RI to help Palestinians.
In addition to announcing cooperation with Baznas, PT Rekso Nasional Food also reiterated its commitment to humanity that was realized by handing over the second phase of humanitarian aid. The aid is in the form of 1,000 blankets for Palestinians who are still in desperate need of a helping hand and facing winter.
This second aid is included in the collection of donations from PT Rekso Nasional Food employees that have been collected from December 23, 2023 to January 4, 2024. The aid was handed over symbolically by representatives of PT Rekso Nasional Food to Baznas RI.
Chairman of Baznas RI Prof. KH Noor Achmad said humanitarian assistance to Palestine was a noble duty. Thus, the benefits of zakat can be increasingly felt by the wider community.
“We hope this program will make it easier for people to channel their help for our brothers in Palestine. This goodwill can again serve as a reminder that there are still many of our brothers who are less fortunate and need our help,” said Kiai Noor.
