REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that he will grant the privileged rank of Honorary Army General to Defense Minister (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto based on the proposal of Army Commander General Agus Subiyanto.
“It all started from the bottom. Based on the proposal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Army, I agree to give a special promotion in the form of Honorary Army General,” Jokowi said after awarding the privileged rank of Honorary Army General to Prabowo Subianto at GOR Ahmad Yani, TNI Mabes, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Wednesday (28/2/2024).
Prabowo's last rank while serving in the army was lieutenant general (lieutenant general) or three-star. Prabowo last occupied the post as the commander of Sesko ABRI. With his rise to the rank of privileged, Prabowo is entitled to a full general or a four-star rank.
Jokowi explained that in 2022, Prabowo has already received the Yudha Dharma Utama Star award for his services in the field of defense. Thus, it has been proven that the former commander of Kostrad made a tremendous contribution to the military progress and the progress of the country.
Subsequently, Army Commander General Agus Subiyanto proposed that Prabowo be given a preferential appointment and promotion. Jokowi also agreed to the proposal.
Meanwhile, President Jokowi presented Menhan Prabowo with a four-star award in front of hundreds of high-ranking military officers (Pats) of the AD, AL, AU, and Police.
