DKI Government Provides Hundreds of Buses for Free Homecoming Program

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta organized the Free Homecoming Program 2024 with hundreds of buses to transport the homecoming and return flow that can accommodate 27,000 people.

“In 2024, the Jakarta Provincial Government plans to implement the Free Homecoming Program, there are hundreds of buses in 19 cities or districts in six provinces in Java and Sumatra with a capacity of more than 27 thousand passengers,” said Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono on Thursday (29/2/2024).

The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta prepared 259 bus units for the return flow and 210 bus units for the reverse flow. In addition, 13 truck units are also provided for transporting motorcycles during the homecoming current and 10 truck units for reverse current.

The Free Homecoming 2024 program, which synergizes through the Transportation Department (Dishub) of DKI Jakarta and related stakeholders (stakeholders) and entrepreneurs, is one of the efforts of DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to facilitate DKI Jakarta residents who want to return and return by bus.

In addition to reducing the burden on society, the program also serves as an invitation for the people of DKI Jakarta to avoid traveling far carrying excess luggage using two-wheeled vehicles.

DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has provided Rp 13 billion in funding for Lebaran 2024 homecoming and return program using public transport free of charge.

“Yes, every year Rp 13 billion. Firstly in order to reduce the burden on society, secondly, of course, with the encouragement of the police officer or the Minister of Transport (Ministry of Transport) to avoid two-wheeled vehicles,” Heru said.

In 2023, Heru took off 284 buses of the free homecoming program organized by the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta in Monas area, Central Jakarta, Monday (17/4/2023).

The Free Homecoming Program 2023 delivers passengers to Bandar Lampung (Lampung), Palembang (South Sumatra Province) as well as Kuningan and Tasikmalaya (West Java Province).

Lalu Tegal, Pekalongan, Semarang, Kebumen, Cilacap, Purwokerto, Solo, Sragen, Wonosobo and Wonogiri (Central Java Province), Yogyakarta (DIY Province) as well as Madiun, Kediri, Jombang and Malang (East Java Province).

Dishub DKI Jakarta also dispatched 13 trucks transporting 281 motorbikes from Pulogadung Terminal to seven cities such as Semarang, Kebumen, Solo, Wonogiri, Yogyakarta, Jombang and Malang.
