REPUBLICA.CO.ID, RIYADH -- Saudi Arabia's National Date Center (NCPD) announced a significant 14 percent growth in the value of Saudi date exports by 2023. This increase in exports amounted to 1.462 billion Saudi riyals or Rp 6.12 trillion from the previous year.
Reported from the Saudi Gazette, Saturday (2/3/2024), this marks an impressive expansion in the global footprint of Saudi dates. The number of importing countries increased to 119 countries.
Since 2016, the total value of exports, including date products has jumped 152.5 percent from 579 million saudi riyals to 1,462 billion saudi riyals in 2023, showing a strong compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.3 percent.
NCPD Chief Executive Mohammed Alnuwairan, attributes this success to the combined efforts of leadership, date palm producers, exporters, and public agencies. These collaborative initiatives have included participation in local and international exhibitions, organizing business missions, streamlining export procedures, and engaging with the private sector under a cohesive strategy to increase date exports.
