REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SAMARINDA -- The pair of presidential and vice presidential candidates number 2, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, overwhelmingly won the vote in East Kalimantan (Kaltim).

Based on the plenary data of the General Election (Election) 2024 Election Commission (KPU) recapitulation plenary data Prabowo-Gibran was ahead with 1,542,346 votes.

In the open plenary meeting that lasted until Sunday afternoon, the number 1 pair, Anies Rasyid Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar came in second place with only 448,046 votes and the number 3 pair, Ganjar Pranowo and M. Mahfud MD, got 240,143 votes.

“The number of valid votes in East Kalimantan for the incoming presidential election was 2,230,535 votes, while the number of invalid votes was 47,506 votes. The number of valid and invalid votes was 2,278,041 votes,” KPU Chairman Kaltim Fahmi Idris said in Samarinda on Sunday.

Of the witnesses of the three pairs of candidates (paslon) for president and vice president, only Paslon No. 2 signed the news of the recapitulation results of the 2024 presidential election.

Fahmi said that witnesses in the order number 1 and 3 did not want to sign the news of the results of the 2024 election because they had objections or records related to the election process. “Unsigned, the mechanism continues to run, which means that it remains carried out according to the existing stages, so we have no problems,” Fahmi said.

He reiterated that it did not interfere with the mechanism for announcing the election results already provided for in the Commission Regulation (PKPU) number 5 of 2024.

Fahmi added that for the results of the legislative elections, all witnesses from political parties that passed to the Parliament of RI signed the news of the recapitulation results, except from the Democratic Party who raised objections related to the vote.

Fahmi said that all objections or notes submitted by witnesses will be poured in a special incident form that is part of the news appendix of the provincial-level vote recapitulation event.

“Even if there are dissatisfied parties, we are welcome to use the existing path, because it is stipulated in the Law No. 7 of 2017,” Fahmi said.

Fahmi said that after the announcement of the provincial election results, KPU Kaltim is still conducting observations related to the data read and poured in the news of the results event.

“This is to avoid any discrepancies or errors that could affect the final result,” Fahmi said.
