REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PONOROGO — The Government of Ponorogo Regency (Pemkab), East Java, requested that all night entertainment venues (THP) be temporarily closed during Ramadan. The operational ban was called to honor people who perform worship during Ramadan.

“We ordered all THMs to close first during Ramadan,” Regent Ponorogo Sugiri Sancoko said on Tuesday (12/3/2024).

The Regent instructed the Pamong Praja Police Unit (Satpol PP) to conduct regular patrols for his supervision. He asked that THM strictly follow the policy from the government not to operate temporarily.

“We are coordinating with Satpol PP to carry out patrols, ensuring that the THM should be completely closed,” Regent said.

While associated food stalls, cafes, or restaurants, are allowed to operate as normal. There is also no obligation to close the place of his business with curtains. Regents said it was to accommodate non-Muslim communities. “Non-Muslims should be accommodated and respected,” he said.
