1,850 Soldiers Children Will Receive Scholarship from Ministry of BUMN

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - A total of 1,850 children of outstanding military servicemen will receive educational scholarships from the Ministry of BUMN as one of the forms of cooperation between the Ministry of BUMN and the military.

The TNI Illumination Center in its official broadcast in Jakarta on Monday, said that the scholarship of IDR 5 million per child was given by Minister of State for SOE Erick Thohir to the children of soldiers during the signing event of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of BUMN and TNI Mabes in Jakarta on Monday.

Erick Thohir explained that the scholarship was channeled through educational savings that were given directly to the children of military servicemen who were judged as outstanding. “The scholarship recipients are children of military soldiers from 38 provinces in Indonesia,” he said.

In the same event at Wisma A. Yani, Jakarta, Army Commanders General Agus Subiyanto and Erick Thohir also signed a MoU on the synergy of tasks and functions of the Ministry of State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and the Indonesian National Army (TNI).

The army chief and the minister of state-owned enterprises agreed that they will increase cooperation in various strategic sectors to support national development and public welfare.

The Commander-in-Chief of TNI, while giving a speech in the event, said that the MoU became a guideline for cooperation that would later be established between the TNI and the Ministry of state-owned enterprises.

“Some areas of this cooperation include, utilization of human resources (HR), education and training, facilities and socialization, security of strategic vital assets and personnel, as well as operation of SOE work areas,” the TNI Commander said.

Meanwhile, Erick Thohir considers the memorandum of understanding to be important, as it is related to one of the priorities of the Ministry of state-owned enterprises, which is to optimize the value of assets and create a healthy investment ecosystem.

“Therefore, this synergy becomes very important to realize the national development of SOEs with the support provided by the TNI through the safeguarding of SOE assets that are widespread in Indonesia and protecting national vital objects that exist throughout the NKRI region,” said Erick Thohir.

Whose value in 2023 will reach IDR 10.470 trillion, have a very strategic value to move various sectors, in addition to driving the economy, also play an important role in the development of Indonesia's infrastructure oriented to public services.

“With strong synergies between SOEs and TNI, we believe that this can optimize the resources of SOEs and TNI, including securing the assets of SOEs so that the tasks and functions of each can be carried out properly,” Erick said.

In the memorandum of understanding, one of the follow-up synergies of the Ministry of state-owned enterprises and TNI related to the security of national vital objects of strategic nature belonging to state-owned enterprises from unlicensed mining activities (PETI). Erick hopes that with synergies from all parties, PETI's problems can be tackled soon.
