REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Four ministers of the Indonesian Cabinet Maju and the Honorary Council of Election Organisers (DKPP) will attend a follow-up hearing on the 2024 presidential election dispute at the Constitutional Court (MK) on Friday (5/4/2024). The hearing will begin at 08.00 pm.
“Tomorrow is the agenda of his trial to hear the statements of the ministers we have scheduled, including from the DKPP,” MK Chairman Suhartoyo said before closing the hearing on the results of the general election (PHPU) for the 2024 presidential election in Building I of MK RI in Jakarta on Thursday night.
In connection with this schedule, Suhartoyo asked the parties, namely applicants 1 and 2, the defendants, related parties, and Bawaslu to remain present to listen to what the constitutional judge will elaborate on. “Staying committed should not raise questions, and it is only the judges who will ask for deepening,” Suhartoyo said.
Earlier, the Head of the Administrative and Clerical Law Bureau of MK Fajar Laksono confirmed that four ministers of the Indonesian Cabinet Maju will present to the Court. Fajar also said that DKPP RI Chairman Heddy Lugito will also attend.
The four ministers in question are Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, and Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini. The summoning of the five parties that are classified as important to hear their statements by the Court is not a form of accommodation for the pleas of Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md.
“Because as is the universal discussion, the judicial body that organizes the trial of an interparty nature, then the nuance becomes partisan if it accommodates the evidence requested by one of the parties,” Suhartoyo said, during the hearing on Monday (April 1, 2024).
He explained that the pleas of the Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud camps were actually rejected by the Court. However, the constitutional judges took a separate stance to summon the ministers and the DKPP RI in view of the posts they were sworn in.
“The judge choosing these parties is seen as important to be heard at the trial which can later hopefully be heard on Friday, the 5th of April 2024,” the Chief Justice of the Court said.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said Indonesian Cabinet ministers Maju will attend the election dispute hearing in MK if invited by MK. “Yes all (invited ministers) will attend. Since it has been invited by the Court, it will attend,” the President said in between the release of humanitarian aid for Palestine and Sudan at the AU Halim Perdanakusuma Military Base, Jakarta, Wednesday (3/4/2024).
The president said that the ministers would explain what had already been done regarding their duties. “The Minister asked me what kind of budget. Mensos on social assistance explained what it was like. Everything will be explained later, we will wait for Friday,” the president said.
