REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir awarded nearly 100,000 free homecoming participants to BUMN. Erick said this number increased by 40 percent when compared to homecoming attendees in 2023.
“This program is a form of SOE present for the community and at the same time a commitment in supporting the creation of a safe, comfortable, and conducive homecoming flow,” Erick said during the participation of Mudik Assiik with BUMN 2024 in Silang Monas, Jakarta, Friday (5/4/2024).
Erick said the safety of the forwards was very important. Based on accident data during the 2023 homecoming season, as many as 77 percent of accidents are caused by users of two-wheeled vehicles, so the government strongly recommends that travelers use public transport, one of which is buses.
Erick said the program encourages migrating migrants to be safer and more comfortable using public transportation.
“This is a manifestation of the consistent commitment of the Ministry of state-owned enterprises and SOEs in supporting the organization of a conducive homecoming flow by putting the safety and safety of immigrants in the forefront,” Erick said.
Erick hopes that the SOE free homecoming can make travel safer, more comfortable, and healthy for immigrants. He said 88 SOEs and participating subsidiaries provide free homecoming for communities driven by PT Jasa Raharja and TJSL BUMN
Forum.
The former Inter Milan president said more than 94,753 passengers were divided into three modes of transport, namely 1,536 bus units for 70,179 bus passengers, 60 rail units for 19,122 train passengers and 30 ocean liner units for 5,452 seagoing passengers to more than 200 cities spread across Indonesia.
Erick delivered a homecoming with SOEs this year introducing innovations in special services for disabled residents and providing electricity-based buses to support environmental sustainability.
“This step is being taken to ensure every traveller enjoys a comfortable, unhindered return journey and to provide an inclusive travel experience for all travellers, while maintaining safety, comfort and environmental sustainability,” Erick said.
On the same occasion, the President Director of Jasa Raharja as the Chairman of the Coordinator of the Organization of Homecoming Together BUMN 2024, Rivan Achmad Purwantono, said this activity was to divert motorcycle users to homecoming by bus.
Rivan said motorbike homecoming carries a high accident risk because it is not designed for long-distance travel.
“The buses used have complied with safety standards, such as ramp checks and selected bus crews. Thank you Mr. President Jokowi and Mr. Erick Thohir so that the implementation can go smoothly,” Rivan said.
