REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Office Building of Legal Aid Institution (LBH) - Yayasan Lembaga Batam Indonesia (YLBH) located on Jalan Diponegoro, Menteng, Central Jakarta (Jakpus) caught fire, Sunday (7/4/2024) night. Six fire car units, worked hard to extinguish the blaze.
As of Monday (8/4/2024) in the early hours of the morning, there had been no record of casualties in the event. Director of LBH Jakarta Citra Refarandum in his press release explained, from the testimony of stall owners who traded in front of the LBH Office, Wasiatun said that the blaze began to grow around 22.00 WIB.
Before the blaze appeared, Wasitaun, Citra said, had time to listen to the sound of explosions. “According to eyewitnesses, Wasiatun, the owner of the catfish stall in front of the LBH office, he heard three times the sound of loud explosions, and sparks from the air conditioning on the second floor of the building,” Citra said, Sunday (7/4/2024) night.
From the explosion, Citra said he suspected, gave rise to a blaze that spread across the 2nd and 3rd floors. “Six units of fire trucks came and tried to extinguish the fire. And until midnight, the fire can be extinguished, but it is still under the monitoring of the officers so that the fire does not spread again,” Citra said.
“And in this incident, there were no casualties,” Citra added. As for the material losses experienced from these fires, Citra said, it is not yet certain.
