REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto appealed to his supporters not to stage peaceful protests in front of the Constitutional Court (MK) building. This is important in order to preserve the nation's leadership.

“I, Prabowo Subianto sincerely ask the Indonesian people, especially the 96.2 million Indonesians who have chosen Prabowo-Gibran, not to take any action in front of the House of Justice or elsewhere in order to preserve the coolness of democracy, to preserve the unity and integrity of the nation,” Prabowo said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

Prabowo said he understood the allegations levelled by his rivals in the 2024 presidential election dispute (PHPU), but urged his supporters to remain cool and peaceful, as 96.2 million Indonesians have been very clear.

“We understand that Prabowo-Gibran supporters are very disturbed and have had quite a touching reaction, but we ask supporters of the Prabowo-Gibran couple who have exercised their voting rights so much to always be vigilant and always careful and not to be easily provoked, especially by parties that create an atmosphere of disquiet and unrest,” he said.

The president-elect called restraint and non-reactive measures not a weak stance, but put forward the interests of the people and the nation to preserve the unity and unity of Indonesia.

“I reiterate let us calm down, cool, refrain, allow the institutions to allow the judges of the Court to carry out their noble duties wisely by always putting the interests of the Indonesian nation and people first, for the sake of the Indonesian nation we love,” he said.

Earlier, the National Campaign Team (TKN) of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka also appealed to supporters of the number 2 candidate pair not to take action in the Court on Friday.

“We as TKN Volunteer Commander Prabowo-Gibran are responsible for the cancellation of this action, and from tonight our team will work until the morning to socialize all supporters who have prepared for their arrival at the peaceful action that has gone viral on various social media and mass media,” said TKN Volunteer Field Commander (Golf) Haris Rusli Moti in Jakarta (18/4).
