REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Many on social media appealed to Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) customers to immediately withdraw all their money due to reports of some BRI customers who lost money on remittances his forehead. In fact, the narrative written by the rama_news account is that the seizure of customers' money is an effect of the election that requires money for social aid and also to help governments that undermine democracy. Currently, such posts have been reported for being demonstrably untrue or fake news.
In response to this, BRI Corporate Secretary, Agustya Hendy Bernadi, confirmed that the account posting was untrue and unfounded. BRI will also take decisive action on the spread of false information that is disturbing to the public.
“Due to the circulation of content that has been deliberately viralized and has gained millions of views, BRI will take decisive action and take legal action against relevant parties, as the content contains misleading information, damages the image of BRI and has the potential to cause unrest in the community,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (24/4/2024).
BRI urges people to make positive use of social media and not easily digest information that cannot be ascertained to be true. He added that in carrying out its operations, BRI is committed to upholding the values of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) and prudential banking.
