“Soul Scouts will not be a selfish person. Therefore, we hope that Scouting activities in schools should continue to run for the students to participate,” Lani said in Batang, Thursday (25/4/2024).

Chairman of national scouting Budi Waseso appealed to the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Makarim to revise Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 12 of 2024.

This regulation regulates the curriculum for early childhood education, basic education and secondary education, which also regulates the implementation of scouting as an extracurricular in schools.

"We, the Kwarnas and Kwarda ranks, are expressing our position. This shows our response to Minister Nadiem Makarim's statement regarding Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 12 of 2024," he said in a statement in Jakarta, Thursday.

This follows regulation Number 12 of 2024 which regulates that scout activities must be provided by schools, but student participation in extracurricular activities is voluntary.

Budi said that so far scouting has a long history and already has legal force, which even since the time of Bung Karno has consisted of scouts becoming one.

Moreover, the implementation of mandatory scouting activities has also been regulated through Law Number 12 of 2010 and Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 63 of 2014.
