REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) receives a visit from Singapore's Prime Minister (PM) Lee Hsien Loong at Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java on Monday (29/4/2024). PM Lee Hsien Loong visits Indonesia during Leader's Retreat.
Lee's visit to Indonesia is one of the last visits before he hands over the government to the new prime minister. PM Lee will resign from office on May 15, 2024 and hand over his post to his deputy, Lawrence Wong.
PM Lee Hsien Loong arrived at Bogor Presidential Palace around 10:00pm. PM Lee Hsien Loong's visit to Indonesia was also accompanied by Deputy PM Lawrence Wong.
After signing the guest book in the Lotus Room, then President Jokowi and PM Lee Hsien Loong as well as Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto and Deputy PM Lawrence Wong chatted on the porch of the Presidential Palace. At the Leader's Retreat, Indonesia and Singapore celebrated 10 years of cooperation between the two countries while enhancing existing cooperation.
In addition, during this meeting, the two will also discuss a number of important issues, from food security, energy transition, to the development of the Capital of the Archipelago (IKN). Jokowi invited Singaporean investors to invest capital in IKN.
The meeting was also attended by Menko Marinves Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Menkumham Yasonna Laoly, and Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita.
