REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Communications and Informatics (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi presented five strategic digital economy policies in Vision Indonesia Digital (VID) 2045.
In an event titled Green Impact Day — For Indonesia's Food, Water and Energy Security at the Ganesha Cultural Hall of Bandung Institute of Technology, West Java, on Monday, he said that the first policy was to encourage research and development activities to bring effectiveness and efficiency of technology to digital economy participants.
He explained that the second policy is to optimize research and innovation as a solution for local startups as well as access to strategic information to support development and the third policy is to improve brand protection and patent protection of technological inventions.
“Fourth, adopt digital technologies in priority sectors, such as manufacturing, agriculture, logistics, and finance, and fifth, encourage funding and investment in the digital economy,” he was quoted as saying in a ministry press release.
Citing data from Google, Temasek, Bain & Company (2023), he mentioned that the value of Indonesia's digital economy in 2025 is projected to reach 109 billion US dollars (about Rp 1.7 quadrillion) or increase by about 15 percent when compared to 2023.
“One of the drivers is the transformation of the green economy which refers to the utilization of technology and science for environmentally friendly products and services,” he said.
Budi Arie posits that green technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI) will also contribute to the global economy by 2030, a value greater 4.4 percent than if AI were utilized for businesses in general.
