REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SOLO -- Vice President-elect, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, claimed to have prepared steps forward to join a political party. The mayor of Solo will openly join one of the parties when he leads the government.

Even so, the eldest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) did not reveal which party would be his port. Only, it was already on the list of road maps he created. Gibran also said he did not know if the party he would join was the same as President Jokowi's father.

“We have prepared a road map ahead of where to go, with whom, what boat we have prepared, calm down. I don't know (about Jokowi). That's my road map, not him, it's different,” Gibran said when he met Republika.co.id in Solo City, Central Java, on Thursday (2/5/2024) Despite this, Gibran felt there was no need to rush into plans to join one of the political parties. “If I just relax, yes, if the issue of bargaining and others will be the ones that will judge the citizens,” he said.

According to Gibran, for now, he is still focused on his duties as mayor of Solo until he is sworn into RI 2 on October 20, 2024. He also insists that it will still be down to the grassroots to absorb people's aspirations.

“The bottom line now is that we focus on the work at hand, keep it down to the grassroots and if that (political party) thing can go the way,” Gibran said.

Asked about him being part of the Golkar family, Gibran confirmed that he was in good contact with all parties, including the PDIP. He also said, along with some bull party cadres still giving each other feedback and opinions via Whatsapp.

“If we were, I was personally good with all parties. For example, with our PDIP friends we still keep in touch. Everything is good, all are still good friends. Still giving each other feedback, still WhatsApp each other, all friends,” Gibran said.

Earlier, Honorary Chairman of DPP PDIP, Komarudin Watubun explained the status of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Gibran Rakabuming Raka in his party. He judged that Presidents Jokowi and Gibran were no longer part of the bull-headed emblematic party.
