REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice President (Vice President) KH Ma'ruf Amin called for the management of sharia social funds to continue to be promoted in order to have an increased impact on the sectors of education, health, humanitarian, and economic.
“In particular, as an instrument of poverty alleviation and job creation,” the Vice President said during a speech at the inauguration of the Indonesian Charity Room at the Vice President's Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (14/5/2024), which was monitored online.
He stated that the management of sharia social funds such as zakat, infak, alms, and waqf (ziswaf) has contributed positively to the economy through a fair and sustainable distribution of wealth. “The distribution of zakat, for example, is not only aimed at meeting people's needs, but is also directed to provide more sustainable benefits,” the Minister said.
The vice president said in 2023 the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) reported that the management of zakat as an instrument of poverty alleviation had been successfully felt by 21 thousand beneficiaries belonging to the extreme poor.
