SURABAYA -- JAKARTA -- Prospective candidate for governor of East Java (Jatim) Khofifah Indar Parawansa expressed readiness to help children who are victims of Israeli occupation in Palestine. In fact, a number of boarding schools in Jatim are called ready toeducate Palestinian children.

The readiness was conveyed by Khofifah during a meeting with Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, who wants to evacuate 1,000 Palestinians to hospitals in Indonesia. She said he wanted to help the government in helping the Palestinians.

"I actually told my friends for quite some time, kiai-kiai the boarding school nurse. They are all ready to be able to provide educational support to all, boarding schools, those in Jatim,” she said on Jalan Kertanegara, Friday (7/6/2024).

According to her, during this time the boarding school in Jatim has experienced to educate the sons of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia. After providing the education at a learning center in Malaysia, the children of migrant workers were further educated at a boarding school in the Jatim region.

She stated that the boarding school in Jatim is ready to educate children from Palestine. However, the arrival of the Palestinian children had to be adjusted to the procedures of the Indonesian government.

"The nature is, if the boarding school is ready to accept to educate them. If up to 1.000 children is not too heavy a number to be educated at boarding schools in Jatim,” said the PP Muslimat General Chairman Nahdlatul Ulama (NU).

Earlier, Prabowo stated that Khofifah had agreed to the idea of evacuating 1,000 Palestinians. In fact, Khofifah said he was ready to help house the 1,000 evacuated Palestinians in schools in the Jatim area.

"Ms. Khofifah conveyed her idea, her initiative, because she is also with Indonesia's initiative to evacuate 1.000 victims, 1.000 injured patients. He also has the idea of offering that East Java is ready to accept 1.000 Palestinian children and possibly some mothers who have been traumatized," Prabowo said.

He also claimed to have met with some West Java (Jabar) figures. According to him, a number of boarding schools in Jabar are also ready to accommodate Palestinians who will be evacuated.

“As soon as they heard Mrs. Khofifah's idea, they were also ready in the Jabar boarding schools. I think all over Indonesia is ready to accept Palestinian children and victims,” he said.
