REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia Logistics Agency, Bulog has rice stocks with a volume of 1.8 million tons. To maintain these stocks, Bulog continues to prioritize domestic grain and rice procurement during the harvest season.
By mid-June 2024 the products of domestic farmers have absorbed almost 700 thousand tons. Bulog also carried out government duties by procuring rice from abroad. Bulog received an import assignment with the issuance of import permits for 3.6 million tons.
Bulog has realized the import activities amounting to two million tons through 26 ports throughout Indonesia and with priority to ports in non-central production areas.
“The port of Tanjung Priok, as the main and largest port in Indonesia, is also one of the ports of entry for imported rice. From the beginning of the year to May 2024, there are dozens of ships that have been successfully unloaded at Tanjung Priok Port with a total of approximately 490,000 tons of rice,” said President Director of Perum Bulog, Bayu Krisnamurthi, in a press release on Wednesday (12/6/2024).
