REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta since 2012 facilitates and provides assistance to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) so that their products obtain halal certification.

“We continue to encourage MSMEs, especially those who have joined the Jakarta Entrepreneur program, to take classes by providing various mentoring facilities,” said Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, Head of Trade Industry Department of Cooperative Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) of DKI Jakarta Province, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo.

Ratu in Jakarta, Sunday (11/8/2024), confirmed that just like all MSME food and beverage participants present at Jakarta International Investment, Trade, Tourism and SME Expo (JITEX) 2024 are curated and have halal certification.

“All MSMEs at JITEX 2024 are SMEs that have risen in class,” Ratu stressed.

Director of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Institute (LPPOM) of DKI Jakarta, Deden Edi said that the possession of halal certification for food and beverage business operators in Indonesia is very important and is mandatory. It was in accordance with Government Regulation Number 39 of 2021.

“Our government has mandated that all food and beverage businesses must have halal certification as of October 17, 2024,” Deden said.

According to Deden, when business operators already have halal certificates, the resulting food and beverage products will have wider market opportunities. Not only for sale in Indonesia, but also in the global market.

In addition, Deden explained, there are five criteria that serve as an assessment to determine a food and beverage product worthy of a halal certificate.

Namely commitments, the materials used as raw materials of production and the production process runs. In addition, the assessment of the products produced and the final monitoring and evaluation is carried out.

“One type of industry that must have a halal certificate is the Domestic Industry Performer (PIRT),” Deden stressed.

Representative from the Jakarta Health Department, Sajun added that PIRT must have a marketing license before it can sell its products on the market. Then, the companies that include PIRT are those that manufacture all its products on a home scale and use household tools.

“For all these PIRTs, of course, they must have a license. If it does not have a permit, it will later be sanctioned up to extermination,” Deden said.

Previously, DKI Jakarta PPKUKM Service assisted free halal certification for 5,000 MSMEs in the Jakarta area who are part of Jakarta Entrepreneur (Jakpreneur).

“For this year there are another 5,000 halal 'free' from DKI for Jakpreneur. But those 5,000 are the ones that must be audited,” said Elisabeth Rante Allo, Queen of Rante Allo.

Actually the certification is paid but it is underwritten by the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta. “Indeed, it is paid, approximately IDR 3,000,000 per MSME and all that is covered by the provincial government,” Ratu said when she met at the City Hall, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (17/7).
