The Central Statistical Agency (BPS) noted the driving factor of Indonesia's economic growth or Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 5.11 percent on an annual basis (yoy) in the first quarter of 2024. This economic growth was driven by household consumption which increased by 2.62 percent yoy.

“Indonesia's economic growth remains above 5 percent, although many countries are not growing, even slowing down,” Jokowi said.

In fact, East Indonesian regions such as Papua and Maluku are also able to grow above 6 percent and North Maluku is able to grow above 20 percent. Inflation was restrained in the range of 2-3 percent as many countries experienced tremendous increases, some even reaching more than 200 percent.

“The extreme poverty rate could also bring us down from 6.1 per cent to 0.8 per cent in 2024. We can reduce the stunting figure from 37.2 percent to 21.5 percent in 2023,” Jokowi detailed.

The unemployment rate is also able to be suppressed from the previous 5.7 percent to 4.8 percent in 2024. Safeguarding efforts for the lower economic community have also provided widespread benefits to the community.

This is evident from the Rp361 trillion budget of Indonesia Sehat Karta over 10 years, which has been used to finance the health services of more than 92 million JKN participants per year, ranging from early age to elderly people spread across Indonesia.

Then, from the Rp113 trillion budget of Indonesia Pintar Card over 10 years has been used for the education of more than 20 million students per year, from elementary to high school/junior high schools throughout Indonesia. A total of Rp225 trillion of the Harapan Family Program budget over 10 years has also been used to boost the economy of about 10 million underprivileged families per year. The Rp60.3 trillion budget for Pre-Work over 5 years has been used to augment the skills of 18.8 million workers spread across Indonesia.

“This is a development that we aspire to together. A development that touches all walks of life. Developments that have an impact on the wider community. Development that opens up opportunities to grow together,” Jokowi said.
