REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- History is recorded from 2024, when for the first time the celebration of Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia will be held in the Capital City of the State (IKN) at Istana Garuda, Penajam Passer Utara, East Kalimantan. Not all state officials will accompany President Joko Widodo at the IKN.
A number of ministers who will celebrate Indonesia's 79th independence day at IKN include PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Investment Minister Head of Capital Investment Coordination Agency (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia and SOE Minister Erick Thohir.
Erick Thohir also participated in the series of events of August 17, 2024 at IKN. Through his social media, Erick Thohir stated that on Friday evening he accompanied Mr. President Joko Widodo in Apples of Honor and Sacred Devotion (AKRS), Kusuma Bangsa Park at IKN exactly on August 17 at 00:00 WITA.
“This is the first time AKRS has been held at IKN in memory of the heroes who have fought for Indonesia,” wrote Erick Thohir.
In Kusuma Park Bangsa the long struggle for Indonesian independence is depicted with statues of Proclaimers Presidents Soekarno and Mohammad Hatta. As well as the 17-meter-high wings of the garuda, the 79-meter-high flagpole and the eternal flame as a symbol of the fighting spirit that never goes out.
“Thank you for the struggle of all Indonesian heroes,” said Erick Thohir.
There are six series of events for the 79th Anniversary of RI held at IKN. It starts from the sacred musings at midnight to the lowering of the flag. More rundown of the show:
1. 00:00 WITA: Honour Apple Ceremony and Sacred Devotions at Kusuma Park

2. 09.15 WITA: Performing Arts in the Ceremony Square of the IKN State Palace.
3. 10:15 A.M. WITA: Kirab Duplicates Heirloom Flag and Copy of Proclamation Text at Istana Negara IKN.
4th. 11:00 WITA: Second-Second Commemoration Ceremony of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at Istana Negara IKN Ceremony Square.
5. 15.45 WITA: Performing Arts in the Ceremony Square of the IKN State Palace.
6. 17.00 WITA: The ceremony of lowering the Red and White State Flag in the Ceremony Square of the IKN State Palace.
