REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, IKN - RI's independence commemoration ceremony for the first time was organized in the capital of the archipelago (IKN) this year by President Jokowi. Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto said that the Second-Second Commemoration Ceremony of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in 2025 will again be held at Istana Negara, the capital of the archipelago, East Kalimantan.
“God willing it will be here again,” Prabowo Subianto said as he accompanied President Joko Widodo to answer questions from media crews after the ceremony of lowering the flag of the Red and White at the 79th Anniversary Commemoration of RI at Istana Negara, IKN, Saturday (17/8/2024).
President Jokowi invited Prabowo to answer reporters' questions about whether the celebration of Indonesia's anniversary in 2025 will be held again at Istana Negara IKN. “Ask the president-elect,” Jokowi said.
Prabowo has not yet confirmed whether next year's RI Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony will be held in two places, namely Jakarta Merdeka Palace and Istana Negara IKN as this year. However, he reiterated that his government will later hold the RI Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony at IKN. “We'll see later, but the essence of the ceremony is here,” Prabowo said.
President Jokowi on Friday morning presided over the Second-Second Memorial Ceremony of the Proclamation, which was first held in the capital of Nusantara (IKN), Penajam Paser North Regency, East Kalimantan. In that historic ceremony, the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Indonesia Puan Maharani acted as the reader of the text of the Proclamation.
The series of ceremonies was held in a hybrid (connected) and simultaneously with the anniversary of Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia at Istana Merdeka Jakarta. President Jokowi led the ceremony at the IKN State Palace accompanied by President-elect Prabowo Subianto.
Vice President Ma'ruf Amin attended the ceremony at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, accompanied by Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka. At the ceremony, President Jokowi wore the traditional dress of Kustin from East Kalimantan, while Prabowo Subianto wore the traditional dress of Cak Surabaya, East Java.
Later on Saturday afternoon, the returning President Joko Widodo accompanied by Prabowo Subianto attended the procession of the Red and White Flag Lowering Ceremony in the Ceremony Square of the State Palace, IKN.
