Indonesian Vice President, Maruf Amin, gave his views on resolving the conflict in the South China Sea during the 27th ASEAN-China Summit at the National Convention Centre, Vientiane, Laos, on Thursday (10/10/2024). The settlement of this conflict must be done by peaceful means.
According to the Vice President, the conflict in the South China Sea will have an impact on the region and the world. For this reason, the Vice President stressed that ASEAN must resolve the dispute peacefully.
“Through dialogue, with respect for international law, in particular the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea,” the Vice President said.
The Vice President also added the importance of finalizing the ASEAN-China Code of Conduct by 2026.
The 27th ASEAN-China Summit was held at the National Convention Centre (NCC), Vientiane, Laos, on Thursday (10/10/2024). The meeting was attended by Chinese PM Li Qiang and leaders of ASEAN countries.
