REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ahead of his inauguration as the 8th president of the Republic of Indonesia on October 20, 2024, General (Purn) Prabowo Subianto stated that in forming his cabinet, he will recruit a number of ministers currently in office under President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). However, he did not say what the number was and who the person was.
“In drafting the cabinet, I see many of the upcoming ministers coming from the current cabinet,” Prabowo said as he closed the BNI Investor Daily Summit 2024 event at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senayan, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (9/10/2024) afternoon WIB.
The defense minister believes that the process of transition of leadership to his government will go smoothly. This is because he also became part of the Indonesia Maju Coalition, although he joined halfway, precisely in the “second half” as in football.
Prabowo feels the support of President Jokowi and his team is very strong. “I came in at a critical moment, and it turns out that our values are the same,” said the DPP chairman of the Gerindra Party.
Prabowo also underlined the importance of collaboration in drafting the upcoming cabinet. He continued to assert, every recipient of a mandate from the people bears duties and responsibilities that are not light. Regarding his commitment to continue the existing program for the betterment of the nation, Prabowo hopes that this cooperation will lead Indonesia in a better direction.
The closing of the event was attended by SOE Minister Erick Thohir, ATR Minister/Head of BPN Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Menkumham Supratman Andi Agtas, Head of BPOM Prof. Taruna Ikrar, Wamenkominfo Angga Raka Prabowo, until BNI Director Royke Tumilaar. Deputy Chairman of MPR Eddy Soeparno and chairman of the organizers who also held the 2016-2019 Enggartiasto Lukita period also came to the site.
On Tuesday (8/10/2024), President Jokowi revealed that the leadership transition process had gone well, with Prabowo actively involved in various government meetings. “Since being elected, Mr. Prabowo has always been present at every limited and full meeting. It shows his readiness and commitment to lead Indonesia,” Jokowi said.
He also stressed the importance of thorough preparation before the inauguration, including in drawing up work plans and excellent programs. Jokowi hopes that the moment of transition this time can be carried out without hindrance. So that after the inauguration, Prabowo and his cabinet can immediately work for the benefit of the people.
“A smooth transition will maintain optimism and political and economic stability. We need to collaborate to ensure all plans can be implemented quickly,” Jokowi said at the opening of the same event.
