REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jordi Amat is confirmed to be absent from Indonesia's match against China in Group C of the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifier Asia Zone. He pulled out of Indonesia's squad to play China at Qingdao Youth Football Stadium, Qingdao, China, on Tuesday (15/10/2024) due to injury.
Jordi was previously absent when Indonesia detained Saudi Arabia and Australia. He then played throughout the first half when facing Bahrain. However his recurring ankle injury left him only a spectator.
According to the official PSSI statement, Jordi will receive treatment for the injury at his club Johor Sarul Ta'zim in Malaysia. Jordi said goodbye to all teammates, officials, and coaching staff on Monday (14/10/2024) at noon.
“With a heavy heart, I had to leave the team sooner. Because I'm going to focus on recovery again. It means I can't play for the team against China later,” Jordi said. “But I will support and wish the best for our team. I hope we can get a win and hopefully I can join the team again in the next month.
“Jordi's condition was also conveyed by coach Shin Tae-yong during the pre-match press conference. He said a number of players had serious injuries. “Especially Jordi who has an ankle injury. His condition got worse during training,” Shin said.
Regardless, Shin said the other fit players prepared well and remained focused on the match facing China. Jordi's previous position was well replaced by Rizky Ridho as he was absent due to injury.
Shin said he still has respect for China despite three defeats. He viewed China's better ranking than Indonesia as one reason.
