REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto directly held the first bilateral meeting with a number of state guests at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, Sunday (20/10/2024), on the first day of officially taking office as the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia. After escorting the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo to the AU Halim Perdanakusuma Field in Jakarta, Prabowo Subianto directly received Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles.
“This afternoon there was a meeting of President Prabowo Subianto with some of the leaders of friendly countries who today participated in the Presidential inauguration event at the Parliament of the Republic of Indonesia. There are probably nine countries today who came to the Palace,” Presidential Communications Office Chief Hasan Nasbi told a news conference at the Presidential Palace today.
Based on a live stream from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube account, President Prabowo received PM Richard Marles at the Credentials Room, Istana Merdeka. Deputy PM Richard Marles also signed the guest book, as part of a series of bilateral meetings usually held by the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Following Deputy PM Richard Marles, President Prabowo then received the then Foreign Minister of Great Britain and Northern Ireland David Lammy. In addition to the two countries, President Prabowo is scheduled to receive a number of other state guests, including New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Papua New Guinea, Laos, the United Kingdom and China.
