REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The provincial government of Jakarta assures that Jakarta's provincial minimum wage (UMP) in 2025 will increase. Nevertheless, Head of the Department of Labor, Transmigration, and Energy (Disnakertransgi) of Jakarta Hari Nugroho could not confirm the size of UMP 2025 increase.

“(UMP 2025) is definitely up from last year. The increase will be according to the meeting in the remuneration board,” he said in Jakarta, Thursday (7/11/2024).

Hari further explained that the UMP increase figure could be greater because the “alpha” (a specific index symbolized in the form of α) set by the central government is also higher than last year.

“Alpha used to be determined by economic growth and inflation. Yesterday alpha was also from 0.1 to 0.3. Now the alpha index becomes 0.2 to 0.8. So, automatically the numbers are up compared to the UMP last year,” explained Hari.

In the previous year, the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Jakarta set UMP 2024 at Rp 5,067,381. This figure is up 3.38 percent or IDR 165,583 compared to 2023.

Earlier (6/11/2024), Acting Governor of Jakarta Province Teguh Setyabudi also mentioned that he will carefully study the aspirations of labor representatives through the Unions of Workers of All Indonesia (SPSI) at the City Hall, Central Jakarta regarding the demand for the increase of the UMP. Teguh hopes that all parties, both from companies and workers, will find a better solution.
