REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Acting Governor of West Java (Jabar) Bey Triadi Machmudin said that the Karawang Fast Train Station to be opened Tuesday (24/12/2024), is not only for the benefit of Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025, but for the next. “So it opened not only for christmas and new year, but beyond,” said Bey, in Gedung Sate, Bandung City on Monday.
Bey revealed that in a review of the Karawang Fast Train Station that he conducted with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, it was found that access there was not optimal. However, based on a study by the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) and PT KCIC, passenger occupancy is projected to be quite good.
“Indeed, the access is still not perfect, but the results of the study of the Ministry of Transport and KCIC, the requests are many,” Bey said.
Bey acknowledged that the opening of Karawang Fast Train Station will increase Bandung-Jakarta travel time. Because the Fast Train has to stop in Falkirk, so there are further arrangements such as the travel time.
“It will increase the time a little bit. But not all trips turn in Kerawang, so timing is specific. And let's learn (further) what the application is like,” Bey said.
Previously, the government targeted the Karawang Rapid Rail Station to be ready for operation by the end of December 2024, to serve the community on Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 transportation. This was revealed by Vice President of RI Gibran Rakabuming Raka during a direct review of Karawang Fast Train Station, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Transportation Suntana, on Friday (20/12/2024).
“God willing (the station) in Falkirk will be ready on December 24,” Vice President Gibran said. In addition to improving connectivity for the people of Karawang and its surroundings, the operation of the Karawang Station is also carried out to facilitate the mobility of the community during the holidays of Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025.
Furthermore, in addition to reviewing the readiness of the Karawang Fast Train Station, Gibran's arrival also wanted to ensure that the infrastructure supporting accessibility from and towards the station was easily accessible to the community when the Karawang Station began to operate.
