REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Health (Ministry of Health) said free health screening is planned from February at the appointed time of President Prabowo Subianto and Its socialization program begins Jan. Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the screening is aimed at preventing the diseases that cause the highest mortality in Indonesia, namely stroke and heart disease.
Three things are checked: blood pressure, blood sugar, and blood fat or cholesterol. “Well, this is what we want to pursue first, actually. Not as sophisticated or sophisticated as imagined for the elite, middle class. Well, this is really a screening for hundreds of millions of Indonesians who have never been screened so far,” Menkes said after the presentation of the Ksatria Bakti Husada Arutala award for the home of participants of PPDS Anesthesia, Faculty of Medicine (FK) of Diponegoro University (Undip) dr Aulia Risma Lestari, Thursday (9/1/2025).
The screening, he said, will be carried out in 10,000 health centers and it is also possible to use about 15 thousand to 20 thousand private clinics. The screening targets reaching about 280 million residents.
“This birthday screening is conducted for the toddler group, the adult group, and the elderly group. So that the health center is not too full. Whereas the group of children, so school age up to 18, it will later be screened at school. Not on birthdays, but at a fitting time to enter school,” he said.
He added the type of screening given depends on the age group, for example cancer screening for the elderly and congenital disease screening for toddlers. “Because this is a lot, a massive hundreds of millions. Well for that fourth, I'm saying this is the same as Covid, later it will heavily use digital systems,” he said.
After screening, he said, results will be sent via WhatsApp (WA), as during Covid-19 PCR tests. It will therefore promote SatuSehat from this week.
In the questionnaire that the platform will later present, Menkes said, there will also be questions around mental health. 'That soul screening is now we under-screen. People feel healthy when they don't. And the proof of this is true: Almarhumah (dr Aulia Risma Lestari). It was true that he had mental illness, but it was undetectable. Because of this psychiatric problem the screening is not good,” said Menkes Budi Gunadi Sadikin.
