REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Last night the new coach of the Indonesian national team Patrick Kluivert arrived in Jakarta. Shin Tae-yong also opened his voice after no longer coaching the Indonesian national team. He said goodbye and thanked the PSSI and wished the best for the Garuda Squad.
Shin Tae-yong has been working as coach of the Indonesian national team since 2020. The South Korean coach expressed his gratitude via his personal social media. He also thanked the PSSI, in particular Erick Thohir as General Chairman.
“First of all I would like to thank Mr Erick Thohir, Chairman General of PSSI, who has provided enormous support to our Indonesian team in this position. If it were not for Mr President, we would never have reached the position we are today,” he wrote on Saturday (11/1/2025).
“And I want to thank PSSI. Thank you so much for the help and support that continues to be provided.”
He also expressed his gratitude to the players and coaches who have worked so far to get the best results for the Indonesian national team. “I would also like to thank our coaching team. A lot of situations are difficult and tough, but I know that I always work with the players to get good results,” he said.
Shin Tae-yong hopes Indonesia can achieve maximum results in the games ahead and qualify for the 2026 World Cup. “A huge thank you and appreciation to the players. We have to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. My hope is that the players can perform on the World Cup stage.”
Shin Tae-yong also conveyed that he will not forget the love and support he has received during his nearly 5 years as coach of the Red and White team. “Finally, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Indonesian people who have loved and supported me. I will always remember the warmth and support you sent me,” she concluded.
Since being appointed in 2020, Shin Tae-yong has achieved a number of achievements such as leading the Indonesian national team through to the 2023 Asian Cup, the semifinalist of the U-23 Asian Cup, and taking Garuda to the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifying.
